Foundation of Byzantine
The Byzantine was somewhat founded in the 4th century when the Roman set up the their capitial in Constantiopole. They warded off invaders such as the Huns, as well as they had solid taxes. Greek was the common language and Latin was the court language and Greek was found to be less civilized and even barbaric.
The achievement of Justinian
-tried to reconquer Eastern civilization
-restore empire like Rome
- his wife was a cause of big changes
- huge new churches such as Haga Sophia
-unified law
-united and organized new empire
-new line of defense , pushed back the Persian forces
Justinian's code was a rule about property and the owner of the property. Even though Justinian's code was fair, it was debatable. Many areas of this code was not completely clear and could be easily manipulated such as the laws of notions and the civil laws. The natural law is pretty clear since if its your its yours and if someone gives it to you, it is also yours. However with the laws of notion and civil laws, they are pretty tricky to begin with such as the wild beast rule, but in additions they have exceptions which make it even more tricky. I don't think the code helped very much and would have caused more problems than it prevented.
